Japonya'nın posta tarihi ve posta pulları, Japonya'nın postacılık tarihi ve pulculuk mirasının bir yoklamasıdır. Japonya'nın posta tarihi ve posta pullarının hikâyesi yüzyıllar öncesine dayanmaktadır. Ülkenin ilk modern posta servisi, 1871'de profesyonel olarak Kyoto ve Tokyo arasında seyahat ile başlamış olup daha sonra Osaka ile de başlamıştır. Bu, Meiji döneminin Japonya tarihinde simgelediği hızlı sanayileşme ve toplumsal yeniden yapılanmanın ortasında gerçekleşti. Ülkenin demiryolu teknolojisinin gelişme sürecinin göz önüne alındığında, Japonya'nın büyüyen posta sistemi, atlı çekme yöntemlerinin yanı sıra çekçekler de dahil olmak üzere büyük ölçüde insan kaynaklı taşımacılığa dayanıyordu. Örneğin, Japonya'nın posta hizmetinin 50. yıldönümü anısına 1921 yılında hükûmet, posta taşıyan cesur binicileri gösteren dekoratif kartpostallar yayınladı.[1]

2007 yılından bu yana, ülkenin posta ofisleri, Japan Post Holdings şirketinin bir parçası olan firma Japan Post Network tarafından yönetilmektedir.
