Exif

Exchangeable image file format (kısaca Exif; Türkçe: Değişebilir görüntü dosyası biçimi), sayısal fotoğraf makineleri tarafından çekilen görüntülerin içine enstantane, diyafram, pozlama, fotoğraf makinesi markası, modeli gibi teknik bilgilerin gömülmesini sağlayan, bir veri tanımlama standardıdır.

Özellikler

EXIF doğrudan bir görüntü biçimi olmayıp; JPEG ve TIFF biçimlerinde kullanılan veri yığını belirtimidir. EXIF verileri doğrudan dosyanın içerisine kaydedilir; farklı bir dosya, veritabanı ya da kaynakta tutulmasına gerek yoktur dolayısıyla dosya farklı bir kaynağa kopyalandığında metadata da kopyalanmış olur.

EXIF verilerini birçok bilgisayar yazılımı algılayabilir, bunun yanında C için libexif, C++ için Adobe XMP Toolkit ya da Exiv2, Java için Metadata Extractor, Perl için Image::ExifTool gibi kütüphaneler EXIF verilerini okuyabilir ve yazabilirler.[1]

Kaydı tutulan EXIF bilgileri fotoğraf makinesi üreticisine göre değişmesine karşın, temelde benzer belirtimleri içerirler. Yeni nesil kimi sayısal fotoğraf makineleri, bünyelerindeki Küresel Konumlandırma Sistemi (GPS) alıcılarıyla edindikleri enlem-boylam bilgilerini dahi saklayabilmektedir.

Fotoğraflar için EXIF tek metadata standardı değildir; TIFF, DCF, IPTC gibi metadatalar da fotoğraf dosyalarına eklenebilir.
