İtalyan milliyetçiliği

İtalyan milliyetçiliği, İtalyanların tek bir homojen kimliğe sahip bir ulus olduğuna inanan ve bundan sonra İtalya'nın kültürel birliğini ülke olarak desteklemeye çalışan bir harekettir. İtalyan milliyetçisi bir bakış açısıyla İtalyanlık, aslen Latium'da bulunan ve İtalyan yarımadasına ve Avrupa'nın büyük bir kısmına hakim olmak için gelen italik bir kabile olan Latinlerden kültürel ve etnik köken iddia etmek olarak tanımlanır. Bu nedenle, İtalyan milliyetçiliği tarihsel olarak emperyalist teorilere de bağlı kalmıştır.[1] Bu tür görüşlerin romantik (veya yumuşak) versiyonu İtalyan vatanseverliği, ayrılmaz (veya sert) versiyonu ise İtalyan faşizmi olarak bilinir.

İtalyan milliyetçiliğinin genellikle kökenlerinin Rönesans'a kadar uzandığını düşünülmektedir[2] ancak 1830'larda Giuseppe Mazzini liderliğinde siyasi bir güç olarak ortaya çıktı.[3] 1860'lardan 1870'lere kadar Risorgimento'ya bir neden olarak hizmet etti. İtalyan milliyetçiliği I. Dünya Savaşı'nda Avusturya-Macaristan'ın elindeki topraklarda İtalyan irredentist iddialarıyla ve İtalyan faşizmi döneminde yeniden güçlendi.
