บาเยลซา เป็นรัฐในภาคใต้ของไนจีเรียในภูมิภาคหลักของสามเหลี่ยมปากแม่น้ำไนเจอร์ อยู่ระหว่างรัฐเดลตากับรัฐริเวอส์ เมืองหลวงคือเยนาโกอา ภาษาหลักที่ใช้พูดคือภาษาอีจอพร้อมภาษาถิ่นเช่น Kolukuma, Mein, Bomu, Nembe, Epie Atisa และ Ogbia เช่นเดียวกับรัฐอื่น ๆ ในไนจีเรีย ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาราชการ รัฐก่อตั้งขึ้นใน ค.ศ. 1996 โดยแบ่งพื้นที่จากรัฐริเวอส์ และเป็นหนึ่งในรัฐที่ใหม่ที่สุดของสหพันธ์สาธารณรัฐไนจีเรีย[4]
