Podľa textárky a Gilmourovej manželky sa v prvej strofe hovorí o niekdajšom lídrovi a gitaristovi skupiny, Sydovi Barrettovi, v druhej strofe taktiež o bývalom lídrovi a basgitaristovi, Rogerovi Watersovi.[3] Navyše druhá strofa začína slovami „Hey you“, ktoré odkazujú na skladbu, ktorú zložil samotný Waters a nachádza sa na albume The Wall (názov skladby: Hey You).
