Directory of Open Access Journals skr. DOAJ je webová stránka, na ktorej sa nachádza komunitou zostavený zoznam vedeckých časopisov s otvoreným prístupom, ktorý spravuje spoločnosť Infrastructure Services for Open Access (IS4OA). Bola spustená v roku 2003. V súčasnosti indexuje obsah okolo 20 000 vedeckých časopisov s otvoreným prístupom.[1] DOAJ spravuje viac ako sto vybraných dobrovoľníkov z komunity knihovníkov a iných akademických disciplín, ktorí pomáhajú pri spravovaní zoznamov a indexov časopisov s otvoreným prístupom. DOAJ poskytuje svoje služby bezplatne.

Poslaním DOAJ je „zvyšovať viditeľnosť, dostupnosť, reputáciu, využívanie a vplyv kvalitných, recenzovaných, otvorených vedeckých časopisov na celom svete, bez ohľadu na disciplínu, geografiu alebo jazyk.“[1]

Dejiny

Open Society Foundations financovala po Budapeštianskej iniciatíve pre otvorený prístup rôzne projekty súvisiace s otvoreným prístupom. Vznik katalógu bol jedným z týchto projektov. Myšlienka DOAJ vznikla na základe diskusií na prvej Nordic Conference on Scholarly Communication v roku 2002. Organizáciou, ktorá zriadila a spravovala DOAJ, sa stala Lundská univerzita,[2] ktorá v tom pokračovala až do januára 2013, keď ju prevzala spoločnosť Infrastructure Services for Open Access (IS4OA).

Spoločnosť Infrastructure Services for Open Access (IS4OA) C.I.C. založili v roku 2012 v Spojenom kráľovstve ako komunitnú záujmovú spoločnosť zástancovia otvoreného prístupu Caroline Sutton a Alma Swan.[3] Spoločnosť okrem prevádzkovania databázy DOAJ do roku 2017 spravovala aj Open Citations Corpus.

V roku 2015 DOAJ spustil proces opätovného prihlasovania na základe aktualizovaných a rozšírených kritérií. Na konci tohto procesu (december 2017) bolo z databázy vyradených takmer 5 000 časopisov z celkového počtu 11 600 indexovaných v máji 2016. Väčšinou z dôvodu nepodania opätovnej žiadosti.[4]

Od októbra 2022 začala spolupráca DOAJ a OpenAIRE.
