The movie recieved mixed and positive reviews from critics.[3][4] Fox's family did not like the movie because of the way they made Terry to be short-tempered. [5]
The movie won in six categories at the 5th Genie Awards. It won Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Sound, Best Sound Editing, and Best Film Editing.[6]
