Strontium bromate is an ionic compound made of strontium and bromate ions. The chemical formula is Sr(BrO3)2. The molar mass is around 343.424 g/mol. It is mostly used in laboratories and rarely in industries. It is made when strontium (metal or basic compound) reacts with bromic acid.

Formation of strontium bromate

It can be made when strontium metal reacts with bromic acid to make strontium bromate and hydrogen gas.

The balanced chemical equation is:
Sr + 2HBrO3 → Sr(BrO3)2 + H2

It can also be made when strontium hydroxide reacts with bromic acid to make strontium bromate and water.

The balanced chemical equation is:
Sr(OH)2 + 2HBrO3 → Sr(BrO3)2 + 2H2O
