Samuel Helenius (born 26 November 2002) is a American-born Finnish professional ice hockey left winger. He currently plays for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Outside of the NHL, Helenius played for JYP Jyväskylä of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Helenius played two seasons with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).

He was drafted 59th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2021 NHL entry draft. On 13 August 2021, Helenius signed a three-year, $2.775 million entry-level contract to join the Predators.[1] He was sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate Ontario Reign.

On 9 November 2024, Helenius made his NHL debut in a 5–2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. During the second period, he recorded his first NHL point after assisting on a Warren Foegele goal.[2] On 14 January 2016, Helenius scored his first NHL goal against Spencer Knight in a 2–1 win against the Florida Panthers.[3] On 2 December 2025, Helenius signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract to stay with the Kings.[4]

Personal life

Helenius' father Sami Helenius is also a former professional hockey player who played six seasons in the NHL. Samuel was born in Dallas, Texas when his father played for the Dallas Stars.[5]
