Spencer Knight (born April 19, 2001) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender. He currently plays for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the Florida Panthers.

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Knight played 2 seasons with the U.S. National Development Team of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and two years with the Boston College Eagles of Hockey East. He had a successful time with the Eagles. During his rookie season, he recorded a 1.97 goals against average and a .931 save percentage. For his effort, he was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team and the Hockey East Second All-Star Team.[1][2] For the next season, he was named to the Hockey East First All-Star Team, and was named the Hockey East Goaltending Champion, the Hockey East Player of the Year, and a AHCA Division I All-American.[3][4][5][6]

He was drafted 13th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2019 NHL entry draft. On March 14, 2023, he signed a three-year, $2.7 million entry-level contract to join the Panthers.[7] On April 20, 2021, Knight made his NHL debut, stopping 33 of 34 shots in a 5–1 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.[8] On March 18, 2022, Knight stopped all 17 shots he faced to earn his first NHL shutout in a 3–0 win against the Anaheim Ducks.[9] On January 29, 2022, the Panthers sent him down to play for their AHL-affiliate Charlotte Checkers where he played before being called back up a few months later.[10] On September 27, 2022, Knight signed a three-year, $13.5 million to stay with the Panthers.[11]

On March 1, 2025, the Panthers traded Knight and a 2026 first-round draft pick to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Seth Jones.[12] On September 13, Knight signed a three-year, $17.49 million contract to stay with the Blackhawks.[13]
