Nicklaus Perbix (born June 15, 1998) is an American professional ice hockey defenceman. He currently plays for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Career
Before playing in the NHL, Perbix played one season with the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and four years with the St. Cloud State Huskies of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). He had a successful time with his teams. He won named to the All-NCHC First Team.[1]
He was drafted 169th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2017 NHL entry draft.[2] On March 31, 2022, Perbix signed a one-year entry-level contract to join the Lightning.[3] He was sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate Syracuse Crunch.
On October 18, 2022, the Lightning called him up and Perbix made his NHL debut in a 3–2 loss against the Philadelphia Flyers.[4] On October 26, he recorded his first NHL point after assisting on a Mikhail Sergachev goal in a 4–2 win against the Anaheim Ducks.[5] On November 5, Perbix scored his first NHL goal against Eric Comrie in a 5–3 win against the Buffalo Sabres.[6] On January 2, 2023, Perbix signed a three-year, $2.25 million contract to stay with the Lightning.[7]
On July 1, 2025, Perbix signed a two-year, $5.5 million contract to join the Nashville Predators.[8]
