Lehava

Lehava is a far-right Jewish group in Israel that supports Jewish supremacy (the thought that Jews are better than other people).[1] They think that it is wrong for non-Jews to take on the culture of Jews (cultural assimilation). They also think that Jews should not do business or be friends with non-Jews. The goal of their work is to prevent marriages between Jews and non-Jews, especially between Jewish women and non-Jewish men. One of the people who spoke against them was Reuven Rivlin, a former president of Israel. In English, their name can be translated as flame. Their name is an acronym: להב"ה "Flame," Hebrew: למניעת התבוללות בארץ הקודש LiMniat Hitbolelut B'eretz HaKodesh; Prevention of Assimilation in the Holy Land.

Their main activities are:

  • They are against interfaith marriage, where one of the partners is Jewish, and the other is not
  • They want segregation; Jews and other people should not live in the same parts of a town or settlement
  • They are against homosexuality, and LGBT in general.
  • They are against Christianity in Israel
