The Twentieth United States Census was done by the Census Bureau. It found the population of the United States to be 226,545,805. It was an increase of 11.4 percent from the 1970 Census.[1]
It was the first census not to ask for the name of the "head of household."[2] About 16 percent of households received a "long form" of the 1980 census. It had over 100 questions.
