19. Mistrzostwa świata w łyżwiarstwie szybkim w wieloboju sprinterskim odbyły się w West Allis, w USA, w dniach 6–7 lutego 1988. Zawody rozegrano na sztucznym torze State Fair Park. Zawodnicy dwukrotnie startowali na dystansach 500 i 1000 metrów. Złoto zdobyli: reprezentantka NRD Christa Rothenburger oraz Amerykanin Dan Jansen.
