Engler-systemet

Engler-systemet er en klassifikasjon for blomsterplantene som var svært viktig på tidlig 1900-tall. Adolf Engler publiserte første versjon i sin bok Syllabus der Pflanzenfamilien i 1892.[1] Boka og systemet ble utgitt i flere utgaver av Engler og etter hans død av flere andre forfattere.

Til forskjell fra seinere systemer (Cronquist, Takhtajan) setter Engler-systemet de enfrøbladete foran de tofrøbladete.

Klassifikasjon

Under vises en ganske sein versjon av systemet[2]. Her oppfattes blomsterplantene som en underdivisjon og den gis navnet Angiospermae innenfor divisjonen Embryophyta (frøplanter). Underdivisjonen deles i de to klassiske gruppene enfrøbladete og tofrøbladete som dermed blir klasser, hhv. Monocotyledonae og Dicotyledonae.
