Øystre Slidre prestegjeld

Hegge stavkirke

Øystre Slidre prestegjeld var et prestegjeld tilhørende Valdres prosti i Hamar bispedømme i Den norske kirke. Det omfattet Øystre Slidre kommune i Oppland fylke, og hovedkirken var Hegge stavkirke.

Øystre Slidre prestegjeld og dets sogn er nå en del av Øystre Slidre kirkelige fellesråd underlagt Valdres prosti.

Historikk

Heggjar sókn[1] (norrønt) har sin opprinnelse fra kristningen av landet.[2] Hegge antas å være lagt under Slidre i førreformatorisk tid, da det var behov for å tilpasse den kirkelige inndelingen til folketallet og bosetningsmønsteret etter Svartedauden.[3]

Ved kgl.res. av 16. oktober 1848 ble Slidre prestegjeld delt i Østre Slidre og Vestre Slidre prestegjeld, gjeldende fra samme dato. Øystre Slidre prestegjeld skulle således bestå av Hegge, Volbu og Rogne sogn.[4]

Fra 2004 ble prestegjeldet som administrativ enhet faset ut av Den norske kirke, og fra 2012 gikk det også ut av lovverket.[5]
