De Campeonato Paulista Segunda Divisão is het vijfde niveau van het staatskampioenschap voetbal van São Paulo. De competitie werd in 1978 opgericht en reeds in 1980 weer afgevoerd. In 1994 werd de competitie heringevoerd. Van 2001 tot 2003 was er met de Série B3 zelfs nog een zesde klasse onder de Série B2. Na het seizoen 2004 werden de Séries B1 en B2 samengevoegd tot de Segunda Divisão. In 2020 was er sprake om de vijfde klasse terug in de voeren, maar dit werd uitgesteld vanwege de coronacrisis in Brazilië. In 2024 werd de Série A4 ingevoerd als nieuwe vierde klasse en de bestaande Segunda Divisão ging nu als vijfde klasse fungeren.
