Marija Kartanaitė (g. 1932 m. sausio 10 d. Raguvoje, Panevėžio rajonas, m. 2017 m. gruodžio 17 d. Vilniuje) – Lietuvos šachmatininkė, nusipelniusi šachmatų trenerė, daugkartinė Lietuvos moterų šachmatų čempionė, Lietuvos moterų šachmatų čempionatuose pelniusi dešimt aukso, devynis sidabro ir vieną bronzos medalį.

Biografija

Pedagogė. Lietuvos moksleivių ir jaunimo centre[2], prieš tai - Vilniaus pionierių rūmuose - parengė kelias šachmatininkų kartas.

M. Kartanaitė Lietuvos moterų šachmatų čempionatuose iškovojo 20 medalių: 10 kartų buvo Lietuvos čempionė (1956, 1957, 1958, 1963, 1964, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1980 m.); 9 kartus iškovojo Lietuvos moterų čempionato sidabro medalius (1953, 1954, 1955, 1959, 1961, 1968, 1976, 1978, 1979 m.) ir vieną kartą - bronzos medalį (1977 m.).

1971–1972 metais laimėjo SSRS kaimo draugijos moterų čempionatus, o 1973 m. socialistinių šalių kaimo draugijų čempionate Brno laimėjo auksą. Lietuvoje vykusiose Pasaulio lietuvių sporto žaidynėse laimėjo varžybas 1995 ir 1998 metais. 2012 m. rugpjūčio mėnesį dalyvavo Europos senjorų čempionate Kaune.[3]

Duktė Rasa Bandzienė (g. 1961 m.) sekė mamos pėdomis; 3 kartus tapo Lietuvos šachmatų čempione. Žentas Algirdas Bandza - tarptautinis šachmatų meistras.
