აღზრდა და განათლება

შარლოტის მამამ, პატრიკ ბრონტემ, რომელსაც ცოლი ადრე გარდაეცვალა, რვა შვილიდან ოთხი, პასტორ უილსონის ქალთა სკოლაში მიაბარა, სადაც მდიდართა ოჯახებისთვის აღმზრდელებს ამზადებდნენ. ამ სასწავლებელში ყოფნისას შარლოტის უფროსი დები ჭლექით დაავადდნენ და გარდაიცვალნენ. პასტორ უილსონის სასწავლებლიდან გამოყვანილი შარლოტი კერძო პანსიონს მიაბარეს. კერძო პანსიონის დამთავრების შემდეგ შარლოტმა იქვე დაიწყო აღმზრდელად მუშაობა, შემდეგ იგი მოეწყო იორკში, ერთ-ერთი ფაბრიკანტის ოჯახში, სადაც მრავალი დამცირება გადაიტანა. მისმა ამაყმა ხასიათმა ვერ გაუძლო დამცირებას და იორკიდან ბრიუსელში გადავიდა, სადაც მუშაობა ერთ-ერთ პანსიონში ინგლისური ენის მასწავლებლად დაიწყო.

მოღვაწეობა

შარლოტმა და თავისმა ორმა დამ — ემილიმ და ენმა ადრეულ ასაკში დაიწყეს ლექსებისა და რომანების წერა. შარლოტის სამწერლო სარბიელი წარუმატებლობით აღსავსე გამოდგა, მაგრამ მწერალი ამ დაბრკოლებებმა სულიერად ვერ გატეხა. მისი პირველი რომანი იყო „მასწავლებელი“ რომელიც მწერალს ყველა გამომცემლობამ უკანვე დაუბრუნა. რობერტ საუთიმაც შარლოტის ლექსები უკან დააბრუნა და თან წერილში დიდაქტიკური დარიგებებიც დაურთო: მწერლობა ქალის საქმე არ არისო.

მაგრამ ამ დარიგებამაც რომანების წერაში მწერალს ხელი ვერ შეუშალა. 1847 წელს მან გამოაქვეყნა ახალი რომანი „ჯეინ ეარი“, რომელმაც მწერალს დიდი წარმატება მოუტანა. 1850 წელს წიგნი დაიბეჭდა რუსულ ჟურნალ-გაზეთებში, რამაც რუსი მკითხველი საზოგადოება აღაფრთოვანა, მაგრამ მათაც არ გამორჩენიათ წიგნის ნაკლოვანებები.
