Joð (Enska: iodine, sem kemur úr gríska orðinu iodes, sem þýðir „fjólublár“), er frumefni með efnatáknið I og sætistöluna 53 í lotukerfinu. Þetta er óuppleysanlegt efni sem er nauðsynlegt snefilefni fyrir lífverur. Efnafræðilega séð er joð minnst hvarfgjarnt af öllum halógenunum og einnig hið rafeindagæfasta af málmkenndu halógenunum. Joð er aðallega notað í læknisfræði, rotvarnarefni, ljósmyndun og í litarefni.

Frakkinn Bernard Courtois einangraði joð fyrstur manna árið 1811. Joð er stálgrátt, fast efni sem glampar á, en í loftkenndu formi er það fjólublátt. Joð er geislavirkt efni.
