Zhou Zuoren

Zhou Zuoren (16 Januari 1885 – 6 Mei 1967) adalah penulis kenamaan esai dan penerjemah dari Cina.^[1] Ia adalah adik dari penulis Lu Xun.^[1] Lahir di Shaoxing, Zhejiang, Zhou Zuoren mempelajari Bahasa Jepang serta kulturnya semasa belajar disana.^[2]^[3] Di sana ia mulai mempelajari Yunani kuno dengan tujuan untuk menerjemahkannya ke Bahasa Tionghoa Klasik.^[3]

Gaya penulisannya yang segar membuatnya menjadi figur penting Sastra Kontemporer Cina.^[4] Ia sangat tertarik pada cerita rakyat, anthropologi, dan sejarah.^[4] Oleh karena ketertarikannya ia banyak menerjemahkan banyak dari cerita Yunani Kuno dan Jepang.^[4] Ia adalah penerjemah pertama yang menerjemahkan cerita Ali Baba ke dalam Bahasa Mandarin.^[4] Sedangkan karya terjemahannya yang paling ia banggakan adalah Lucian's Dialogues.^[4]
