Starkid Production atau juga di sebut Team Starkid, adalah sebuah perusahaan produksi musikal teater yang berdiri pada tahun 2009 oleh Darren Criss, Brian Holden, Matt Lang dan Nick Lang. Pendiri dan kebanyakan anggotanya adalah lulusan dari University Of Michigan di bagian Music, Theatre & Dance. Mereka dikenal karena salah satu karya mereka yaitu parodi musikal dari Harry Potter, yaitu A Very Potter Musical yang menarik hati banyak orang ataupun fans Harry Potter. Kebanyakan musikal mereka tersedia gratis untuk di tonton di channel YouTube resmi mereka. Kelompok ini sekarang berbasis di Chicago, Illinois.

Sejarah

Anggota StarKid Productions bertemu di University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance, berkolaborasi dalam drama asli melalui [Basement Arts http://basement.studentorgs.umich.edu/][pranala nonaktif permanen] teater. Awal drama mereka bercerita fantasi parodi seperti The Hobbit dari Lord of the Rings, lalu mereka memutuskan pada bulan April 2009 untuk menghasilkan parodi musikal Harry Potter. Setelah meng-upload video dari bermain di YouTube untuk teman-teman dan keluarga, video mereka menjadi Viral Video, dan mereka dengan cepat mengumpulkan sebuah kultus berikut di seluruh dunia. Sebagai hasil dari keberhasilan viral, siswa teater Darren Criss dan Brian Holden, bersama dengan saudara Matt dan Nick Lang, menciptakan teater perusahaan musikal teater StarKid Production. Mereka menamai perusahaan mereka setelah kutipan yang diambil dari adegan dalam A Very Potter Musical, di mana Draco Malfoy (diperankan oleh Lauren Lopez) mengolok-olok Harry Potter.

One of these insects, named Bug, comes across sebuah kapal luar angkasa manusia jatuh dan menjadi tergila-gila dengan ide menjadi Starship Ranger, dan ia mendapat kesempatan ketika sekelompok manusia mendarat di Bug-World dalam upaya untuk menjajah planet.

Pada 27 September 2011, StarKid Productions mengumumkan konser nasional pertama mereka: "The SPACE (StarKid Precarious Auditory Concert Experience) Tour". Grup ini tampil di 21 tempat dalam 15 kota. Tur ini mulai pada 4 November 2011 di Ann Arbor, Michigan dan berakhir di New York. Tur ini menampilkan lagu-lagu dari semua musikal mereka dan aktor StarKid yang berpartisipasi adalah Lauren Lopez, Joey Richter, Joe Walker, Brian Holden, Dylan Saunders, Jaime Lyn Beatty dan Meredith Stepien.[9]

Pada 9 April 2012, StarKid mengumumkan konser nasional kedua mereka: Apocalyptour"; dinamai dari referensi fenomena 2012 [10] Tur ini bermulai di Chicago pada 9 Mei 2012, dan berakhir dengan tiket yang terjual habis di Roseland Ballroom di kota New York pada 10 Juni 2012.[11]

Web seri

Little White Lie

Pada 2007, aktor termasuk Matt Lang, Nick Lang, Eric Kahn Gale, Brian Holden, Darren Criss, Lauren Lopez, Elona Finlay, Chris Allen, Meredith Stepien, dan Jim Povolo memproduksi online web seri berjudul Little White Lie. Itu diliris pada tahun 2009.[12] Meskipun serinya meninggalkan kejanggalan di akhir, member StarKid telah mengkonfirmasikan bahwa tidak akan ada season 2, karena membutuhkan biaya yang mahal dan juga aktor yang memerankannya sudah berpencar ke negara lain.

Buku

The Bully Book

Pada 7 Juni 2011, Starkid Productions merilisk sebuah novel bernama The Bully Book, ditulis oleh Eric Kahn Gale dengan ilustrasi oleh Matt and Nick Lang.[13] Awalnya buku itu hanya tersedia sebagai e-book, namun kemudian mengumumkan bahwa mereka akan kembali dirilis di hardcover pada tanggal 26 Desember 2012.
