תחנת הרכבת שיקגו יוניון (באנגלית: Chicago Union Station) היא תחנת רכבת גדולה במרכז העיר שיקגו. התחנה שייכת לחברת אמטרק- חברת הרכבות הגדולה ביותר בארצות הברית. מהתחנה יוצאות רכבות אל כל רחבי ארצות הברית, והיא תחנת המוצא של קו הרכבת קליפורניה זפר אשר מגיע עד לאוקלנד שבצפון קליפורניה.

תחנת הרכבת נפתחה בשנת 1925, והחליפה את התחנה הקודמת שנבנתה בשנת 1881. התחנה היא מסוף הרכבות הבינעירוני היחיד בשיקגו, והוא הטרמינל הראשי של העיר לרכבות נוסעים. התחנה נמצאת בצד המערבי של נהר שיקגו בין רחוב וסט אדמס לבין שדרות וסט ג'קסון, בקרבת מקום ל"שיקגו לופ". כולל מסלולי הגישה והאחסון, התחנה נמצאת בתשעה מבנים המחוברים ביניהם - בעיקר מתחת לאדמה, מתחת לרחובות גורדי שחקים. התחנה משמשת כ"תחנת הדגל" של אמטראק במערב התיכון של ארצות הברית, והיא גם מסוף עבור שישה קווים של הרכבת העילית של שיקגו.

היסטוריה

התחנה הנוכחית היא השנייה בשם זה שנבנתה בשיקגו, ותחנת הרכבת השלישית שנבנתה באותו האתר. הצורך בתחנה אחת ריכוזית וגדולה היה נושא פוליטי חשוב בשיקגו של המאה התשע עשרה[1], כאשר חברות רכבות מתחרות שונות בנו סדרה של תחנות סופיות. תחנות רבות והמסילות המקשרות אליהם הקיפו את רובע העסקים המרכזי של העיר ומנעו בעצם את הרחבתה. גם התחנות השונות גרמו לנסיעה קשה עבור מטיילים, שרבים מהם נאלצו לבצע החלפות מייגעות, ארוכות ולא נעימות מתחנה אחת לאחרת דרך הלולאה.

ב -25 בדצמבר 1858, נבנתה התחנה שהפכה בסופו של דבר לתחנה המאוחדת של היום. התחנה נבנתה על הגדה המערבית של נהר שיקגו.
