אימרה פאזקאש, (במקור פריי, בהונגרית: Fazekas Imre;‏ בודפשט, 29 בינואר 1887 – בודפשט, 6 בפברואר 1949)[1] היה סופר, עיתונאי, מחזאי מצליח, תסריטאי שאף הוזמן להוליווד על ידי סרטי פאראמאונט לכתיבת תסריטי קולנוע. בשל יהדותו וכתיבתו הבקורתית על המשטר הוא נכלל במלחמת העולם השנייה בצו הממשלתי של סופרים אסורים שיצירותיהם נאסרו להדפסה, להפצה ולקריאה, לאיסור החזקתם אפילו בספריות ציבוריות ודינם היה גריסתם (בדומה לשריפת הספרים בגרמניה הנאצית).

קורות חייו

אימרה פריי נולד במשפחה יהודית כבנם של גוסטב פריי (1853–1915),[2] פקיד עיריית בודפשט ולאחר מכן מנהל בית חרושת, ושל בטי אואר (1868–1942).[3][4] הוא סיים בית ספר תיכון וגם את האוניברסיטה בבודפשט, ולאחר מכן עבד במוסד הלאומי לביטוח בריאות תעסוקתית ותאונות (Országos Munkásbeteg-segélyező és Balesetbiztosító). כבר בגיל שש עשרה הופיעו שיריו בעלי הצליל המעניין ב"פשטי הירלפ" (Pesti Hírlap) תחת שם המחבר הבדוי Advena Novus. הוא שהה מספר שנים מחוץ לארצו, במיוחד בברלין, משם כתב מאמרים עבור פשטי הירלפ. בשובו לבודפשט, שיריו פורסמו בכתב העת הספרותי והאמנותי החשוב ניוגט ובעיתונים אחרים. שמו התפרסם עם מחזותיו, אלה מעידים על כישרון מהותי ובעל כל האמצעים להרשים. הוא אהב נושאים ראוותניים, איתם כבש את הקהל בעיבוד המרשים שלו. התיאטרון ההונגרי הציג את המחזה הראשון שלו שנמשך כל הלילה, קפטן סילביו שנושאו הוא המלחמה. לאחר מכן, ברצף מהיר, הגיעו: אלטונה (התיאטרון ההונגרי); מדונה (תיאטרון הקומדיה של בודפשט); טרויקה (התיאטרון ההונגרי). מחזותיו החד-מערכתיים היו מוצלחים מאוד: מאוהבים; גברת אלזה; קרקס; נבלה שפלה; וִילוֹן; קרוסלה; ארמון פרה. הוא היה עובד מדינה בתקופת הרפובליקה הסובייטית ההונגרית. ב-1922 עבר לברלין לזמן קצר, שם כתב תסריטים לסרטים. בשנת 1925, חברת הסרטים האמריקנית סרטי פאראמאונט התקשרה אליו להזמינו להוליווד, כדי לכתוב תסריטי סרטים. משנת 1926 התגורר שוב בבודפשט, כעובד בכיר בעיתוני האשט, ועבד כבעל טור התיאטרון וכמבקר תיאטרון. בשנת 1938 פוטר בשל יהדותו. כתוצאה מכך סבל מהתמוטטות עצבים ולאחר מכן חי רק על כתביו המזדמנים.

הוא הובא למנוחות בבית הקברות היהודי ברחוב קוזמה בבודפשט.

אשתו הייתה שטפניה פרינץ, בתם של איגנץ פרינץ ושל תרזיה וייס, לה נישא ב-19 באפריל 1919 בבודפשט.[5]
