Fórceps

Un fórceps[1] é un instrumento cirúrxico que semella unhas tenaces que pode ser utilizado en cirurxía para coller, mover ou extraer varias cousas dentro ou dende o corpo.[2] Adoitan empregarse durante o parto para axudar ó bebé a saír.

En odontoloxía, refírese ó instrumento empregado para a exodoncia de pezas dentarias. Aseméllase a un alicate duns 17 cm de longo. Hai unha gran variedade de formas, segundo o uso para o cal está indicado, xa sexa exodoncia de pezas posterosuperiores (forma en S itálica), para dentes anteriores como o fórceps recto anterior ou para inferiores como o curvo sobre o bordo, entre outros. Asemade, hai de diferentes tamaños de bocados ou parte activa (coa que se fai a aprehensión dos dentes): fino, mediano e groso.
