| Le jazz est un genre de musique né aux États-Unis au début du XXe siècle. Issu principalement du croisement du blues et de la musique européenne, il est caractérisé par deux éléments principaux : le swing et l'improvisation.
De Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Louis Armstrong et Sidney Bechet qui popularisèrent le jazz Nouvelle-Orléans à Miles Davis qui jouait un Jazz fusion bien différent du jazz traditionnel, en passant par Duke Ellington ou Candy Dulfer, le jazz s'est enrichi d'une multitude d'influences au cours du temps et reste encore aujourd'hui un style de musique interprété partout dans le monde. Il a aussi inspiré de nombreux autres courants musicaux (Jazz latin, jazz-rock, jazz house...) qui ont su en assimiler les sonorités et les techniques de jeu. |
