Julienne David est une femme corsaire française née à Saint-Mars-du-Désert en 1777 et morte à Nantes en 1843.

Biographie

Ses parents se nommaient Pierre David et Marie Bidet. Elle participe à la guerre de Vendée, dans le camp des royalistes. Capturée par les républicains et condamnée à la déportation, elle parvient à s'enfuir et devient gardienne de bétail[1].

À Nantes, elle devient novice sur un bateau marchand, la Jeune Agathe. Puis, après , elle parvient à embarquer comme corsaire. Son navire est pris par les Anglais. Elle est alors emprisonnée pendant 8 ans[1].

Revenue ensuite dans la cité des ducs de Bretagne, elle y meurt dans la misère[1].

Hommages posthumes

La rue Julienne-David à Nantes porte son nom, de même qu'une voie de Saint-Mars-du-Désert.

Le roman de Thérèse André-Abdelaziz intitulé Moi, Julienne David : Corsaire, nantaise, jamais soumise, publié en 2012, s'inspire de sa vie[2].
