Henri de Hesse-Darmstadt (* à Darmstadt; † à Butzbach) est un prince de Hesse-Darmstadt, général impérial et commandant en chef de Lleida Lérida pendant la Guerre de Succession d'Espagne.

Biographie

Henri est un fils du landgrave Louis VI de Hesse-Darmstadt (1630-1678) de son mariage avec Élisabeth de Saxe-Gotha (1640-1709), fille de Ernest Ier de Saxe-Gotha.

Henri entre, comme ses frères Georges, Philippe et Frédéric dans l'armée impériale où il devient Generalwachtmeister. Il se convertit également au catholicisme.

Sous la direction de son frère Georges, il participe en 1704 à la Prise de Gibraltar. En 1705, Henri devient Feldmarschall-Leutnant et est nommé commandant de Lerida. En , il défend la ville à la tête d'une armée de 2 500 hommes lors la guerre de Succession d'Espagne. Après deux mois de siège, il doit se rendre face aux 30 000 hommes de Philippe V. Après une altercation avec le Comte Starhemberg il quitte son service en 1710.

Il retourne en Allemagne et vit à Butzbach, le douaire de sa mère. Sous son Influence, il se convertit à nouveau au Protestantisme.
