Francine Mathews, née le 23 mai 1963 à Binghamton, dans l'État de New York, est un écrivain américain, auteur de romans policiers, parmi lesquels on compte des romans policiers historiques sous le nom de plume de Stephanie Barron. Elle figure dans Great Women Mystery Writers, l'ouvrage d'Elizabeth Blakesley Lindsay consacré aux plus grandes femmes écrivains de romans de mystère^[1].

Biographie

Elle est la benjamine d'une famille de six filles et a grandi à Washington D.C.. Après être passée par la Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, elle obtient un diplôme d'histoire européenne à l'université de Princeton. Elle passe ensuite trois ans à l'Université Stanford pour obtenir son doctorat d'histoire, puis travaille comme analyste à la CIA, notamment sur l'affaire du Vol 103 Pan Am^[2]. Après avoir écrit son premier ouvrage en 1992, elle quitte l'agence et se consacre à l'écriture, se spécialisant dans les romans policiers.

Sous le pseudonyme de Stephanie Barron, elle signe des romans policiers historiques qui ont pour héroïne la romancière Jane Austen.

Elle vit à Denver aux États-Unis.
