Tampereen palkinto

Tampereen palkinto on vuonna 1959 perustettu palkinto[1], jonka Tampereen kaupunki jakaa vuosittain erityisen ansioituneille henkilöille, jotka elämäntyöllään tai toiminnallaan ovat edistäneet Tampereen kehitystä ja tamperelaisten hyvinvointia tai olleet lisäämässä Tampereen vetovoimaa.[2] Palkinnon myöntää kaupunginhallitus. Vuodesta 1994 vuoteen 2015 palkintona oli Unto Hietasen veistos Lähtevät kurjet[3], minkä jälkeen palkinnoksi vaihtui lasitaiteilija Markku Salon tekemä ”Tammerkosken kuohu”. Palkinto luovutetaan vuosittain Tampereen päivänä 1.10. yhdelle tai useammalle henkilölle Tampereen hyväksi tehdystä työstä.[4]
