Merkkien selitykset

Riihimäki–Lahti-radalla tarkoitetaan Suomen rataverkon osuutta Riihimäeltä Lahteen. Rataosuus on osa vuonna 1870 valmistunutta Riihimäki–Pietari-rataa, ja sen pituus on 59 kilometriä. Lahden oikorata valmistui syksyllä 2006 ja kaukojunat siirtyivät sille. Jäljelle jäivät tavarajunat sekä taajamajunat, joiden liikennöintiä muutettiin.

Ennen oikoradan avaamista taajamajunayhteyksiä oli ollut rataosalla 12 vuoroparin verran. Maaliskuussa 2016 tapahtuneiden aikataulumuutoksien myötä taajamajunia alkoi kulkea yhdeksän vuoroa päivässä kumpaankin suuntaan. Vuoroväli on yksi tunti. Maaliskuussa 2016 vuoroväliksi tuli kaksi tuntia, mutta tunnin vuoroväli palautettiin reitin junille saman vuoden joulukuussa. Kesäkuussa 2017 radan lähijunat saivat oman tunnuskirjaimen G. Yksi rataosan taajamajunista kulki ennen kumpaankin suuntaan Helsinki–Riihimäki–Lahti–Kouvola-reittiä. Ennen oikoradan avaamista radalta kaikki junat kulkivat suoraan Helsinkiin. Riihimäen ja Helsingin välillä junat kulkivat lähijunina tunnuskirjaimella H tai R. Vuonna 2010 rataosuudella Riihimäeltä Hakosiltaan tehtiin noin 275 000 matkaa.[2]

Riihimäki–Lahti-radan viimeinen vartioitu tasoristeys poistettiin marraskuussa 2007, mutta Järvelän rautatieasemalla on edelleen käytössä vartioimaton laituripolku, joka on ainoa tasoristeys rataosalla.[3]
