Nassim Nicholas Taleb (s. 1960) on libanonilaissyntyinen filosofi ja tutkija, joka on julkaissut esseitä ja esseekokoelmia tietoteoriasta.

Elämä

Taleb on asunut pitkään Yhdysvalloissa, jossa hän on tehnyt uran talousmatemaatikkona, kvanttina, eli kvantitatiivisena ammattilaisena rahoitussektorilla kehittäen muun muassa riskienhallintamenetelmiä. Hän loi uransa johdannaisten parissa, optioilla. Hänen työnantajiaan olivat CSFB ja UBS. Vuodesta 1998 Taleb on toiminut yksityisyrittäjänä finanssisektorilla.lähde?

Taleb suoritti perustutkintonsa Whartonissa ja väitteli Pariisin yliopistossa. Hän on toiminut professorina ja luennoijana University of Massachusettsissa Amherstissä, New Yorkin yliopistossa ja London Business Schoolissa.[1]

Talebin tunnetuin teos Musta joutsen käsittelee sitä, miten erittäin epätodennäköiset mutta hyvin merkittävät asiat vaikuttavat maailmaan.[2]

Joulun 2008 tienoilla Talebin kohuttiin varoittaneen maailmaa pankkikriisistä etukäteen.[3]
