Martin Johan Wallenius

Martin Johan Wallenius (7. maaliskuuta 1731 Paimio – 22. lokakuuta 1773 Turku) oli Turun akatemian matematiikan professori.[1]

Walleniuksen vanhemmat olivat professori Johan Wallenius ja Maria Gråå. Hän valmistui Turussa maisteriksi 1751, tuli matematiikan dosentiksi 1755, apulaiseksi 1756 ja professoriksi 1758. Walleniusta pidettiin taitavana opettajana, joka teki lukuisia tutkimuksia matematiikan alalta. Hän otti Turussa ensimmäisenä käyttöön infinitesimaalilaskun, soveltaen sitä geometrian ja mekaniikan ongelmien ratkaisemiseen. Huomattavimmat Walleniuksen julkaisuista olivat Exercitationes miscellaneae mathematico-physicae (1757–1758) sekä Ruotsin tiedeakatemian kautta julkaistu Geometriskt försök atta mäta hörn eller solida vinklar (1763).[1]

Wallenius oli naimisissa kaksi kertaa, ensimmäinen puoliso vuodesta 1762 oli Maria Helena Timm (k. 1763) ja toinen vuodesta 1764 Renata Frosterus (k. 1802). Johan Fredrik Wallenius oli Walleniuksen poika toisesta avioliitosta.[1]
