Kipu-tyttö

Kipu-tyttö on henkiolento suomalaisessa mytologiassa, joka tunnetaan lähinnä kivunlievitykseen käytetyistä loitsuista. Usein kiputyttöä kutsutaan Tuonen neidiksi.

Kipu-tyttö tekee ihmisille kipuja vääntämällä kipukiveä. Kipukivi on kipumäellä, kipuvuorella tai kipukukkulalla, ja joskus myös lähellä on kipukoski. Joissain loitsuissa kiputytön kerrotaan itkevän.

Kipukivessä on reikä tai reikiä, jonne kipu-tyttöä pyydetään viemään kivut, sillä ei kivi kipuja itke, paasi vaivoja valita. On mahdollisia merkkejä siitä, että kipuvuorina on pidetty joitakin oikeita mäkiä. On myös oletettu, että reiällisillä kipukivillä voitaisiin tarkoittaa kuppikiviä.

Joskus Kipu-tytön sijaan puhutaan Kivuttaresta, joka on vanhempi naispuolinen henkiolento. Hän on kuitenkin kipujen keittäjä, eikä käytä kipukiveä, vaan keittää ihmisten kivut suuressa mustassa padassa.
