Etelä-Suomen viestipataljoona

Etelä-Suomen viestipataljoona (ESVP, joskus (E-SVP) on vuonna 1985 perustettu viestijoukkojen joukkoyksikkö, joka sijaitsee Riihimäen varuskunta-alueella. Se muodostui kun Viestirykmentti organisoitiin uudelleen alistamalla hallinnollisesti sille Sähköteknillinen koulu ja Viestikoulu.

Näin aikaisemman Viestirykmentin toiminnot määrättiin perustettavan Etelä-Suomen viestipataljoonan tehtäväksi. Vuonna 2003 Etelä-Suomen viestipataljoona sai tehtäväkseen tietoliikenneasentajien kouluttamisen, koska yhdistetty Viesti- ja sähkötekninen koulu lopetti varusmieskoulutuksen.

Varusmieskoulutus

  • Esikuntakomppania kouluttaa sotilasautonkuljettajia, lääkintämiehiä, sotilaspoliiseja sekä yleisen huollon henkilöstöä.
  • 1. viestikomppania kouluttaa alueellisia viestijoukkoja
  • 1. ja 2. elsokomppania kouluttavat elektronisen sodankäynnin joukkoja
  • Aliupseerikoulu kouluttaa viestiaselajin ryhmänjohtajia, tietoliikenneasentajia sekä elektroniikkahuollon asentaja-aliupseereita
