Blood Feast on yhdysvaltalainen vuonna 1963 ensi-iltansa saanut kauhuelokuva, jonka ohjasi Herschell Gordon Lewis.

Elokuvasta

Lewis tunnettiin lähinnä nudismielokuvistaan, ennen kuin siirtyi kauhuelokuviin. Kaikki kriitikot haukkuivat hänet ohjaamansa Blood Feastin, ja Yhdysvalloissa monet osavaltiot kielsivät elokuvan esityksen. Silti se oli tuottoisa elokuva, sillä aina kun pienet elokuvateatterit ottivat Blood Feastin ohjelmistoonsa, yleisöä kävi runsaasti.[1] Elokuvan budjetti oli 24 500 dollaria ja sen arvioidaan tuottaneen 7–30 miljoonaa dollaria. Se kuvattiin kuudessa päivssä Miami Beachin Suez-motellin ympäristössä.[2]

Blood Feastia pidetään kauhuelokuvan lajityypin splatterin edeltäjänä. Lewis teki elokuvansa menestyksen innoittamana muitakin samanlaisia elokuvia. Blood Feast oli Lewisin veritrilogian ensimmäinen osa. Trilogiaan kuuluivat lisäksi Two Thousand Maniacs! ja Color Me Blood Red.[3]
