Jalg (pikkusühik)

Jalg on SI-süsteemi väline mõõtühik, mis on võrdne umbes kolmandiku meetriga.

Ühes jalas on kaksteist tolli ja ühes jardis on kolm jalga. Jala rahvusvaheline standardlühend on ft (inglise keeles foot). Tänapäeval kasutatakse seda peamiselt Ameerika Ühendriikides ja Suurbritannias, rahvusvaheliselt merenduses ja lennunduses.

Jalg kui mõõtühik on välja arenenud inimese jalalaba mõõtühikuna kasutusele võtmisest. Eri aegadel ja riikides on jala kui mõõtühiku pikkus kõikunud vahemikus 0,28–0,35 meetrit. Samamoodi on mõõtühikuna kasutusele võetud küünar. Ka küünar põhineb inimese kehaosal, nimelt küünarvarrel.

  • Inglise foot (lühend ft) – 0,3048 meetrit = 12 tolli = 1/3 jardi
  • Vana-Rooma riik – 0,2957 meetrit
  • Vene фут – 0,3048 meetrit

Tänapäeval on kasutusel inglise jalg.
