Friedrich Theodor Paul von der Osten-Sacken

Parun Friedrich Theodor Paul von der Osten-Sacken (24. august (vkj 12. august) 1880 Jelgava – 25. juuli 1934 Riia) oli Eesti baltisaksa ajaloolane, arhivist ja pedagoog.[1]

Elulugu

Lõpetas Riia linnagümnaasiumi, õppis 1902–04 TÜ-s ning 1904–06 Peterburi ja 1906 Theodor Schiemanni õpilasena Berliini Ülikoolis ajalugu, dr. phil. (1908, Berliini Ülikool), väitekiri "Livländisch-russische Beziehungen während der Regierungzeit des Grossfürsten Witowt von Litauen (1392–1430)" (Riga, 1908). Oli 1908–09 õpetaja Riia erakoolides, ühtlasi Riia Ajaloo ja Muinasteaduse Seltsi sekretär, 1909–18 Eestimaa rüütelkonna arhivaar ning Eestimaa Kirjandusliku Ühingu (Estländische Literärische Gesellschaft) ajaloo- ja muinasteaduse sektsiooni juhataja. 1918–24 töötas Saksamaa arhiivides, 1924–34 oli Riia Lutheri kooli õpetaja. Korrastas Eestimaa rüütelkonna arhiivi, erilist rõhku pani vanematest (perioodist 1240–1841) ürikutest regestide valmistamisele. Püüdis rüütelkonna arhiivi arendada Eestimaa maa-arhiiviks, koondades sinna ka mõisate ja aadlisuguvõsade materjale. 1918 päästis hävitamisest osa Eestimaa kubermanguvalitsuse arhiivist.[1]
