Round 1 of the competition has finished; it was a high-scoring round with 21 contestants scoring more than 100 points. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2, with 55 contestants qualifying. You will need to finish among the top thirty-two contestants in Round 2 if you are to qualify for Round 3. Our top scorers in Round 1 were:
These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. In Round 1, contestants achieved eight featured articles, three featured lists and one featured picture, as well as around two hundred DYKs and twenty-seven ITNs. They completed 97 good article reviews, nearly double the 52 good articles they claimed. Contestants also claimed for 135 featured article and featured list candidate reviews. There is no longer a requirement to mention your WikiCup participation when undertaking these reviews.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or something else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.
If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Sturmvogel 66 (talk) and Cwmhiraeth (talk). Hi. Please don't edit the SPI archives; they're for reference and should only be edited by the SPI team. But, to answer your question, if you think a sock is active again, yes, please open a new investigation page. -- RoySmith (talk) 22:08, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

I would like to give you credit for this review at the backlog drive, but I don't see it stated clearly which criteria the article did not meet, in your opinion. Some of the disagreements, such as citing more than three sources in a row or putting citations in the middle of a sentence, are not part of the GA criteria and can't be the basis for failing a review. This is to let you know that the 1985 World Snooker Championship final article has been scheduled as today's featured article for April 27, 2021. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/April 27, 2021, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.
For Featured Articles promoted recently, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.
I've taken the first day of the final since there is a TFAR for 28 April. We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:25, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Just to inform you, I've provided some comments for the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 GA. I have more to provide, but good luck with the comments I've already made! :) HumanxAnthro (talk) 19:38, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi Lee. I don't know if your admin. status enables you to ban users, but the user Jamiecameron00 has been warned numerous times over constant live-scoring updates on snooker tournament articles. Also, the user keeps jumbling the century break lists on articles for ongoing tournaments. On the page for the currently ongoing tournament, the 2021 WST Pro Series, I have given up editing the century list section, and instead inserted a clean-up tag. (I know my English isn't perfect. I'm not a native English speaker.) Cheers, Mrloop (talk) 23:59, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Hello, Lee. An editor has expressed a concern [1] regarding the this draft [2] being declined. Iam not convinced by the sources. Even though they are from an online newspaper, it feels like a blog to me. Thats why I declined it. But if I have made a mistake, I want to correct it. Because I'm new at AFC reviewing, so that I dont want to make any mistakes in future. Please tell your thoughts regarding the issue. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 13:34, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

The article 2021 Masters (snooker) you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:2021 Masters (snooker) for issues which need to be addressed. The article 2021 Masters (snooker) you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:2021 Masters (snooker) for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. On 22 March 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2021 Welsh Open (snooker), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that at the 2021 Welsh Open, Jordan Brown was the lowest-ranked snooker player to win a ranking event since 1993? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2021 Welsh Open (snooker). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 2021 Welsh Open (snooker)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi. I've noticed that the Players and Tour Championship articles for this snooker season have recurring red links to Cazoo. Are there any plans to create this page? If not (and frankly I'm surprised the article was never made given its existed since 2018 or so), I feel like the link should be removed since it stands out quite a bit in the page. Unfortunately, Wikipedia policy for creating pages is too confusing for me so I abstain from doing so myself. :) --CitroenLover (talk) 16:26, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello. I'm sorry to interfere. I have a question for you.How to create an article right away without an incubator? On other sites there is an opportunity, on this one there is no.What is needed in order to be able to create in open access . or is this a rule for everyone in a draft ? Hello Sir hope you are having a good day. I went through the article Mutahir Showkat and saw you have contributed on that as I also start contributing on it a day before I’m new on Wikipedia as I have never contributed on Wikipedia before, I used to use Wikipedia as a source of information, I usually keep eye on the known persons of our valley Kashmir as it’s a conflict zone, so I feel proud when anyone from our valley do something good, So Mutahir Showkat is one of the known person of our valley, he has done some notable works so far, he has published two books on photography which some apart from that he has done podcast which are streaming on every big music platform, there are some wiki users who believe or pretend to be that Mutahir Showkat is doing this all by himself for marketing purposes so sir I want to justify that this person sold his books free on Amazon kindle, now Amazon and other platforms have fixed the rates for his books by themselves, still sir Mutahir Showkat had posted that if someone needs my book for free he/she can contacted him regarding such thing you can check out on his social platforms, as I don’t know him personally but as a citizen of Kashmir I know about him through news sources, there are some wiki users who are trying to put the article down, and are running campaigns on different social media platforms, that vote for the deletion, sir I request please stop the deletion of this page, because this person really deserves the Wikipedia article, I don’t know too much about the editing and creation of WP articles the article might be improved but not deleted thank you. As an administrator at wp I request you sir do the better, prevent it from vandalism as I mentioned there are lot of wiki users who are doing campaigns outside wiki to vote for deletion. Lee Vilenski, I noticed that you reverted 32.210.38.228's changes at Talk:Tishaura Jones and deleted their creation of Talk:Tishaura Jones/GA1, but a couple of minutes later the IP also created Talk:Tishaura Jones/GA1/GA1, a page which also needs to be deleted. It would be much simpler if you could delete it rather than have me tag it for deletion. Thanks for taking care of it. (I'll let you decide whether to post anything to 32.210.38.228's talk page.) When I went to check the DYK entry, I found the lead hook was one I wrote—led to a few seconds of confusion as I thought "no, this isn't what I went to check on". By coincidence it was for an article which I've been considering going for my first Four Award in. Maybe it's a sign... — Bilorv (talk) 19:03, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
