Glen Andrew Nilsson (born March 13th) also known by his Internet pseudonym Shade Aurion, is an Australian Internet personality, writer, artist, cosplayer, solo indie developer and critic. He is known for being the administrator of TheMetalReview.com, as well as being the co-founder, producer and co-host of the YouTube Let's Play webseries DudeGoBack and various video game-based reviews and writing from DoesThisGameSuck.com, Massive Combo, etc
Nilsson has took TheMetalReview.com from a relatively small HTML website and modernized and streamlined it into the Web Magazine it is today. Following his success he began writing in the video game industry via fan-sites and eventually as a reviewer. Currently still working on DudeGoBack, TheMetalReview.com and as a games reviewer, Nilsson is still an up and comer in his industries whose career is just really starting up.
Career
Game Development
In 1999, Nilsson began working on his manga series then titled 'Dark Omen' and while it was story boarded, characters were all developed and a storyline drawn up for several volumes, he decided to work it into a game series instead. With the first game in the series being developed on RPG Maker 95, the game saw numerous reiterations across RPG Maker 98, 2000, 2k3, VX, VX Ace and final MV and eventually being renamed 'Shadow Keeper' Somewhere during the years of reiterating and refining his still unreleased game, Nilsson took on the main protagonist's name as his online moniker. Apparently working on 2 projects with 'Shadow Keeper' being mid-way through development, Nilsson has also stated he is working on a secret unnamed project he plans to release when it is complete with no teasers or spoilers beforehand.
The Metal Review
In 2012, Nilsson joined TheMetalReview.com as an entry level writer, reviewing hundreds of bands and writing hundred of notable news articles. Rising quickly in the ranks, he took over the company from founder Nadine Menezes in 2013 and took a more backseat position in regards to reviews instead working on PR with high profile clients, managing the website and upgrading it every few months. Within a few months of taking over, views were up, partners and affiliates doubled and promoted content increased. Sadly due to a targeted hack, TheMetalReview.com went down for several months at a time during 2014-2015 but after rebuilding much of the site from scratch and salvaging what he could after massive data loss, TheMetalReview.com was back up in late 2015 and has been going strong ever since.
Video Game Writing
Branching off from writing about music, Nilsson joined DoesThisGameSuck.com back in October 2013 to begin reviewing games starting with a review on Rogue Legacy. After a year or so, Nilsson left the company due to "creative differences" in how he felt the site should run though maintaining a friendship with all members of staff citing them as "great people." DoesThisGameSuck.com went on to become MassiveCombo.com. In late 2018 Nilsson joined Bonus Stage, writing several more reviews becoming more consistent and regular with releases and taking it a lot more seriously.
DudeGoBack
On December 1st 2013, Nilsson alongside co-founder and original co-host Peter Hoffman (AKA Hoffacraft), launched DudeGoBack on YouTube citing influences such as 2BestFriendsPlay, Game Grumps, SomeOrdinaryGamers,YuriOfWind, EpicNameBro, etc and running for 23 episodes. Sadly due to creative differences DudeGoBack was put on hiatus on November 7th 2014 until returning in May of 2017 with Hoffman absent and the addition of a new host Joshua Weston (AKA Herbinger) who stayed on to record the first long running series on the channel 'Dark Souls' sadly due to time constraints both Hoffman and Weston are both absent from the show though still technically staff and still in contact with Nilsson. On July 28th 2017, Joshua Stevens (AKA Arkusam) joined DudeGoBack as a permanent host and has since recorded several long running series. Nilsson and Stevens are both still actively recording episodes today and as of April 2019, DudeGoBack celebrated it's 1000th episode.
Personal Life
Nilsson was born on March 13th in the town of Burnie in Tasmania, Australia. His mother Linda Dawn Nilsson and her boyfriend of the time Mark Raymond Craig were married soon after. While not his biological son, Craig raised him as his own and is still married to Nilsson's mother Linda. After traveling and living all over the country, Nilsson's family finally settled in mining town Gympie and after finishing highschool, Nilsson moved to Queensland capital city Brisbane and has lived there ever since.
