BTR is the debut studio album by pop boy band Big Time Rush. Released on October 11, 2010, the track listing for the album was announced on September 1, 2010. The album was preceded by the release of several singles from the TV show soundtrack. On September 21, the band released their album's first single, "Til I Forget About You". On October 11, 2010 "Boyfriend", which features vocals from rapper Snoop Dogg, was the second official single from the album and has become the band's biggest hit to date, charting on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as reaching the Top 40 of the Pop Songs music chart in the US. Despite not being released as a single, the song "Big Night" charted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number seventy-nine.
BTR had been in the making since 2009, when the four members signed on for the show, Big Time Rush. The boys worked with composers and producers such as Emanuel Kiriakou, Lucas Secon, Matthew Gerrard, Kevin Rudolf, Edwin "Lil Eddie" Serrano, Jeremy Skaller, Robert Larow, Stuart Grekin, Chris Rojas, The Messengers, Eric Sanicola, S*A*M and Sluggo, Timothy Foxx, Jordan Delani and Scott Fellows (the creator of the group). While working on the album, the band released many of the songs as promotional singles onto iTunes, as well as debuted them on their television series. This provided great promotion for the band's music, and led to three hit songs, "Halfway There", "Boyfriend", "Big Night", to begin charting on the Billboard Hot 100.
As seen on their television series, the band worked with many well known celebrities, such as Jordin Sparks, who recorded a song with the boys titled "Count On You". When asked about the collaboration, James stated
Jordin is an unbelievable singer. If you hear her sing in real life, she sounds just as good live every time. She absolutely deserves to be where she is. She's so talented, and she's a sweetheart too. We're on the same label. She wanted to get into acting, so we wrote an episode about her. She came on and was a great actress. The song is one of our first group ballads. It's a five-way ballad, but it turned out pretty cool. Usually, a duet has one person on each side. This has her voice one side and then there are our four voices on the other [Laughs]. It worked out though. It was such a pleasure to have Jordin on the song. She became a good friend of mine. She took me to the actual show before she was in it last time [Laughs]. She's so down-to-earth like that.[1]
On September 1, the album track listing for the standard version was released online. Most of the band's songs featured on the TV Show were included on the album, which also served as the soundtrack to the First Season and part of the Second Season of the series. The songs "Any Kind of Guy", and "Famous", the latter of which is a cover of the Play song, were included on the international release of the album, along with the songs "This Is Our Someday", and "Stuck" (the last one exclusively to the UK and in some iTunes stores around the world). The previously recorded track which featured Jordin Sparks was listed on the album, along with another duet with R&B artist Cymphonique.
The second track on the album, "Boyfriend", was originally recorded and released as a solo song; however, upon being released as a single, two new versions of the song leaked onto the internet. The first version featured rapper Snoop Dogg, who appeared in an episode of Big Time Rush with the band. The second leaked version of the song featured the same artist and rapping duo New Boyz. It was initially unknown which of the two would be released as the official single; however, a reworked version which featured Snoop Dogg served as the album's official second single and also a new edit of the song including just New Boyz as collaborating artists was released as a digital single on iTunes. Both official versions were later included on the international releases of the album.
The music found on the album is mainly pop oriented, as well as R&B. The music found on the album is child-appropriate, as it serves as not only their debut album, but the soundtrack to their self-titled series. Jessica Dawson of Common Sense Media said of the songs on the album, "Not since 'N Sync or the Backstreet Boys has there been a boy band making such a sudden splash in the tweenage music world. Big Time Rush is a standout, not only because of their boyish charm and good looks, but because their music is a cool blend of synth-pop, hip hop, and boy-band harmonies. 'City is Ours' is already a digital hit, and 'Count On You' with Jordin Sparks is a catchy collaboration about earning your place in a relationship. With a hit TV show to showcase their music and their adorable personalities, Big Time Rush won't be in a hurry out of the spotlight. Parents need to know that this boy band is making tween hearts swoon with their hit Nickelodeon TV show, Big Time Rush. In their debut album they sing about relationships, going out, and making the most of your life, but it's all clean and age-appropriate for young fans."[2]

BTR was met with generally positive reception from critics. Matt Collar of AllMusic praised the album, stating "The self-titled debut album from the Nickelodeon boy band Big Time Rush features many of the dance-pop tunes popularized on the band's TV show of the same name. Showcasing the talents of singers Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow , Carlos Pena, Jr., and Logan Henderson, BTR is a fairly accessible listen that falls somewhere between the soulful alt-rock of OneRepublic and the electro-influenced pop of Katy Perry. These are catchy, sweet, radio and club-friendly tracks that, while aimed at "tweens," should appeal to most any fan of well-crafted dance-pop. To these ends, you get the synth-driven leadoff track "Til I Forget About You," the head-bobbin' "Boyfriend", and the yearning club anthem "Nothing Even Matters", among other highlights."[3]
In the United States, BTR sold 67,000 copies in the first week, debuting at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and easily became one of the highest charting debut albums of the year in 2010.[4] The album stayed 57 weeks on the Billboard chart.[5] As of 2012, the album has sold 700,000 copies.[6] It also charted in Mexico, on the Dutch Albums Chart, in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, the UK, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Scottish album charts amongst others. The album received a gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of 500,000 copies.[7]
To promote the album, Big Time Rush embarked on many promotional tours. Member James said of the tour, "Everybody can expect us to be playing 3–5 songs at every high school we're stopping at. Then we're going to be doing a signing. We're in between filming, and that's the crazy part. We're in the middle of the second season. It's going to a pretty fun month for us! I hope people are excited for us to come to their towns. This is going to be done by the end of the month with filming in between, but we absolutely be back on the road with a full set soon." In another attempt to promote the album, the band appeared on Today, where they performed their songs "Til I Forget About You" and "Big Night". The band also performed their latest single, "Boyfriend", at the 2011 Kids' Choice Awards. Rapper Snoop Dogg, who is featured on the single, appeared at the awards show to perform along with the band.[8][9][10]
Among these performances, the band also performed at the 2010 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Also, the band recently announced yet another tour. However, this tour will be their first headlining tour, and will begin immediately after filming of the second season of Big Time Rush is over.
"Any Kind of Guy", "Halfway There", "Famous" and "City Is Ours" were previously released as single from the TV series soundtrack Best of Season 1 and after included in the album.[11] "Any Kind of Guy" sold 94,000 copies in the US as of 2010.[12]
"Til I Forget About You" was officially released as first single on September 21, 2010 but a week later, on September 29, 2010 the promotional single was finally released as physical CD Single in the U.S., making it the first ever official commercialized single. The tracklist included the Album Version, and the B-side song "Famous".[13][14]
"Boyfriend" was released as second single for digital download as well as mainstream radio on February 15, 2011.[15] The single version features Snoop Dogg. However, the album version is done solely by the band. Another version of the song leaked, which featured vocals from rapping duo New Boyz. "Boyfriend" so far peaked at seventy-two on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming their most successful song to date. "Boyfriend" made it to number thirty on the Billboard Pop Songs chart in April 2011.
The third single "Worldwide" was only released over seas as both digital, and physical single. The tracklist included the Album Version, and a remix from the song "Till I Forget About You".[16] Although it didn't debut on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the US, it debuted at number seventeen and later peaked at number 11 on the Philippines' MYX International Top 20 on August 6, 2011, and at number eighty-one on the German Top 100 singles chart on August 22, 2011.
The first official promotional was their eponymous single, "Big Time Rush" released on December 3, 2009 to promote the airing of the new series. "Big Time Rush" became a minor digital hit, when digital downloads led to its debut at number sixteen on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 singles chart and sold 215,000 copies in the US.[12]
"Big Night" wasn't released as single, but peaked 79 on Billboard Hot 100 during the week of the album's release due to over 46,000 downloaded copies sold.[17] The song debuted at seventy-nine on the chart, making it their second highest charting single to date, with "Boyfriend" being their highest (at number seventy-two on the chart).

Elevate is the second studio album by American boy band Big Time Rush. It was released on November 21, 2011 by Columbia Records in association with Nickelodeon. The band worked with accomplished songwriters and producers for the album. These include those that assisted with the material from their debut album, such as Emanuel Kiriakou, Lindy Robbins, Nicholas Furlong, Damon Sharpe, Eric Sanicola and Lucas Secon, along with other notable songwriters and producers, such as JR Rotem, Christopher Stewart, The-Dream, Jay Sean, and Ryan Tedder. The production process of the album took place between nine months to a year, most of which was during their touring process.
The album acts as the soundtrack to the Nickelodeon television series Big Time Rush, which features songs that appeared in the series' second season and the television movie, Big Time Movie. Following the success of their first release, the band was inspired to be more involved in the writing process for this album, writing together or separately a total of eight songs. Elevate is mainly a pop-inspired dance-rock album, also showcasing soul-pop and alternative rock. The first single from Elevate, "Music Sounds Better with U", was released on November 1, 2011.

24/Seven is the third and final studio album by American boy band Big Time Rush, released on June 11, 2013 by Columbia Records. The album experiments with a dance-rock and R&B sound.[2] It also serves as the follow-up to their second studio album Elevate. The band worked with producers Matt Squire and Damon Sharpe, as they had done in the past, in an effort to mature their sound yet not stray away from their well-known qualities. The four members co-wrote thirteen songs (including five deluxe edition bonus tracks) with several hired songwriters.

"24/Seven", the album's title track, was released as the lead single on June 19, 2013 along with its music video. The album received mixed to positive reviews from critics.
Beginning on April 26, 2013, Big Time Rush began releasing photos for various songs on the album via Instagram and Google Plus. The band revealed the final track listing for the album on April 29, 2013 via Entertainment Weekly.[4][5]
Musically, 24/Seven marks a shift on the band's signature sound showcasing a more mature, organic and "down-to-earth pop" direction than their previous two albums, BTR and Elevate.[6] In contrast with their past releases, the songs were written primarily by the band,[7] with the exception of the songs "Like Nobody's Around" and "Song for You", each song on the album was either written or co-written by a member of the band. The album features duo Karmin, which appears on the track "Song for You", and rapper Jake Miller on deluxe edition bonus track "Lost in Love". The first version of the song "Love Me Again" was written by Big Time Rush, but Nickelodeon altered the song to be more "kid-friendly".
"Like Nobody's Around" was released on March 23, 2013. The video references other successful boy bands in past decades as The Ink Spots (1940s/1950s), The Osmonds (1960s), The Jackson 5 (1970s), New Kids on the Block (1980s), Backstreet Boys (1990s) and NSYNC (2000s). The music video premiered on Nickelodeon during the 2013 Kids' Choice Awards.
"24/Seven" was released on June 19, 2013 along with its music video. The song was written by Damon Sharpe, Logan Henderson, Carlos Pena Jr, James Maslow, Kendall Schmidt, Jeremy Skaller, Jamil "Digi" Chammas, Justin Lucas, and Ameerah Roelants, and produced by OFM and Sharpe.
The third and final single, and final song to ever be released by Big Time Rush, was "We Are", which was released on August 3, 2013 to Vevo and iTunes, and aired on the finale episode of television series.
In the United States, the album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart,[8] selling 35,000 album-equivalent units for the week ending June 29, 2013, according to Nielsen Music.[9] However, original estimates for the album were aimed at upwards of 45,000 copies.[10] Additionally, 24/Seven was the fourth best-selling album of the week, ranking at number four on the publication's Top Album Sales component chart.[11] It became the group's second top-five album, following their eponymous debut album that reached a peak of number three in 2010.[12] However, it marked the lowest first week sales for the quartet, with their previous two BTR and Elevate selling 67,000 copies and 70,000 copies in their first weeks, respectively.[10] The following week, the record dropped 33 positions on the Billboard 200, charting at number 37 for the week ending July 6, 2013.[13] For the next three weeks, the album continued to drop down the charts, before rising slightly from number 54 to number 50, during the week of July 27.[14] 24/Seven was present for a total of ten consecutive weeks on the chart, before reaching its final position for the week ending August 31, being number 154.[15] It topped Billboard's Kid Albums and Top Soundtrack charts for five consecutive weeks,[16][17] becoming the "Hot Shot Debut" of the week and spending a total of 22 weeks on the component chart.[16]
Outside of the United States, 24/Seven entered the charts of many European countries. In Poland, 24/Seven peaked at number 38 according to the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry.[18][19] The album was also certified Gold in Mexico.[20]

"Boyfriend" is a song recorded by American pop band Big Time Rush for their debut studio album BTR (2010). The song was produced by Lucas Secon and written by him and Wayne Hector. It features rap verses by American rapper Snoop Dogg. It was released as the album's second official single on February 8, 2011, and was solicited to mainstream radio on February 15, 2011, through Columbia Records.
The song "Boyfriend" was met with mixed reviews by music critics; some praised it as a catchy single while others called it unoriginal and safe. Critics, however, praised Snoop Dogg for adding flavor to the song with his verses. The song was, however, a moderately international success, charting in Austria, Germany, Mexico, Belgium and the United Kingdom as well as a host in other countries. In the United States, the song peaked at number seventy-two on the Billboard Hot 100 becoming their highest charting single to date. And it later earned a gold certification in the US for sales of more than 500,000 sold downloads.
"Boyfriend" was written and produced by Lucas Secon while Wayne Hector, credited as Wayne Anthony Hector, also provided writing.[1] In addition to writing and producing, Secon programmed and arranged the song while performing on drums and synthesizers.[1] Recording sessions took place at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California, headed by Rob Kinelski, and at Mux Music Studios in London, England, headed by Secon and Pete Hoffman, both of which mixed the song.[1] Editing through ProTools was done by Hoffman.[1] Mintman performed on the guitars, bass and keys, which was recorded at the Westlake Recording Studios.[1] "Boyfriend" was released as Big Time Rush's debut single on February 8, 2011, through digital distribution. A week later, on February 15, 2011, Columbia Records serviced the song featuring Snoop Dogg to contemporary hit radio and the version featuring the New Boyz to rhythmic crossover in the United States.[2] On April 19, 2011, a new version of the song featuring the New Boyz was released for digital distribution.
"Boyfriend" features the use of monochromatic beats, condensed instrument sounds, layered and tuned vocals and autotune.[3] According to the digital music sheet published at Musicnotes.com by Sony/ATV Music Publishing, the song is composed in a key of E major.[4] It is set in common time and has a moderate 4 tempo of 80 beats per minute.[4] The band's vocals range from E3 to B5.[4] It begins with a basic sequence of A-E-F#m-E and transitions to F#m-G#m-C#m as it chord progression.[4] The single versions feature rap verses from Snoop Dogg and the New Boyz. The lyrics pertain to being the ideal boyfriend for someone, indicated in lines like, "I don't care at all what you've done before, all I really want is to be your boyfriend."
"Boyfriend" received a generally mixed response from contemporary music critics. Matt Collar of Allmusic called the "head-bobbin'" tune one of the album's highlights.[5] Jessica Dawson of Common Sense Media called the song a "catchy single" that "lingers in your head, with the boys pouting, "B-b-boy-boy-boy-boy-boyfriend," and the tune's easy, hip-pop rhythm." Dawson also commented, " No doubt fans will be wishing the guys were singing to them", awarding the song a three star rating.[6] Caroline Sullivan of The Guardian praised Snoop Dogg's verses, commenting that they add "pizzazz" to "an otherwise anodyne dance-pop tune."[7] Alistair McGeorge of Female First called it a "safe, by-the-numbers pop track that heavily relies on over-production and autotone."[8] Brandon Soderberg of Popdust gave "Boyfriend" a three star rating, commending Snoop Dogg for providing a contrast to the "oddball charm" he presents on his guest features on pop songs. Soderberg credited Snoop Dogg for "inject[ing] specificity into an otherwise pretty ordinary song" and further praised his verses for their placement, writing that they provide "a crucially rewarding sense of narrative."[9]
In the United States, "Boyfriend" entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number seventy-nine in the issue dated March 12, 2011. The song ascended and descended on the chart for several weeks before reaching its peak at number seventy-two in the issue dated May 7, 2011.[10] "Boyfriend" shipped over 500,000 copies in the United States, earning a gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It also peaked at number thirty-two on the Pop Songs chart and at number fifty-eight on Hot Digital Songs.[11] Across Europe, "Boyfriend" fared better on the charts. In Austria, the song peaked at number fifty-five on the singles chart.[12] In Germany, the song debuted at number fifty-one and rose to number forty-nine in the next week.[13]
The video features with Snoop Dogg living in the year 2099, and inviting Big Time Rush from the present to perform and join a party from a portal. At the party, Kendall is drinking a futuristic drink with a girl, James is dancing with two girls outside, Logan is floating around with a girl outside on a light board, and Carlos is dancing with another girl. Solo shots of the boys performing the song and scenes of the entire group performing the song on a stage is intercut throughout the video. After Snoop Dogg performs his verse, he later waves good-bye and the group exit out of the portal into 2011.

"Windows Down" is a song by American boy band Big Time Rush from the re-release of their second studio album Elevate. The song was released on June 25, 2012.[2][3] The song's hook is sampled from "Song 2" by English rock band Blur.
The song was written by Blackbear, Mike Posner, Alexander James, Damon Albarn, Dave Rowntree, Graham Coxon, Bei Maejor, and Matt Squire, with production handled by the latter two while additional by CJ Baran. It features samples from "Song 2" by Blur. American singer/songwriter Kesha originally created an early demo of the track, expected to appear on her second studio album Warrior with the title "Woo Hoo", still using the Blur sample, but later sold the instrumental to Big Time Rush, and the song was re-written to create "Windows Down".
The music video was filmed in Maui, Hawaii and was released on Vevo on June 22, three days before the single's iTunes release.[4][5]
Nick Bassett from UK site The Re-View called "Windows Down" a "surefire summer pop hit", complimenting the use of the "Song 2" sample and wrapping up his article saying that it should "mark Big Time Rush as some hot, home-grown competition for our Transatlantic invading boybands".[6]
Windows Down peaked at number 97 on Billboard Hot 100 and lasted one week on chart.[8] The song also peaked on Billboard Mainstream Top 40 which lasted 3 weeks on chart.[9]
