Hello, I'm Big Smooth. In February 2006, I finally decided that I should contribute to Wikipedia instead of just using it all the time. I most often edit sports and pop-culture articles, but I am a fan of the Random button. When I'm not working on more time-consuming edits I enjoy being a WikiGnome (making minor grammar, style, and spelling corrections).

I was born and raised in and around the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon. I attended Willamette University in Salem, first majoring in computer science and then English before settling on economics. I've also lived in Maplewood, New Jersey and Herndon, Virginia. I love to travel! I went to London in 2003, with highlights including a viewing of The weather project at the Tate Modern, a pilgrimage to Abbey Road, and a train ride to visit the spectacular York Minster. My honeymoon was in beautiful Curaçao. In recent years, I have discovered how much I love traveling to Japan with my family. Tokyo is of course fantastic and I have tried to visit new cities each trip, with highlights ranging from Tōdai-ji in Nara to the Nintendo Museum in Uji.

I have two wonderful daughters and I love being a parent.

I used to speak French quite well but my skills have diminished significantly, although I still like to try to speak French when visiting Québec City and Montréal. I also speak a modicum of Spanish (enough to follow the plot of Dora, la Exploradora) and a very small amount of Japanese.

I like photography and after many years in the Canon EOS system, I now shoot with a Fujifilm X-T30. I love animals, especially dogs. I have owned several beagles and currently have a small hound mix, possibly with some Italian greyhound heritage. I am a music lover with eclectic (albeit mainstream) tastes, and can often be heard singing, whistling, or humming at any given time.

I am also into cars, particularly electric vehicles, and enjoy reading about new and upcoming models. My own tastes lean towards the unusual, and for many years I drove a fun and practical Subaru Forester 2.5XT (in "World Rally Blue"). Due to family needs, I currently drive a plug-in hybrid Chrysler Pacifica along with the rarely-seen Mercedes-Benz B250e electric compact.

I am a fan of Brandon Sanderson's fantasy novels and have made significant contributions to the wiki known as The Coppermind, one of the best fan-run wikis around.
