Today I added Brazil nut to the Nuts and spices section because it is legitimately a forest product. I did not yet add other tree nuts such as hazelnut, almond, cashew, and pistachio, as these days those trees are mostly grown in cultivation for the food crop. However, they were all originally (and still are to some extent) harvested as wild products in forest or woodland. Does anyone else have an opinion on this? I'm uncertain whether tannin should properly be considered a non-timber forest product. From what I've read, the predominant methods for extraction of tannin involve harvesting of trees and destructive extraction from wood. Any expert advice on this?
