We don't use primary sources for genre determination purposes. If Cameron called it a "tragicomic romance", would you advocate that we add that to the article? DonIago (talk) 01:57, 4 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Additional to the above, WP:FILMLEAD instructs that "the opening sentence should identify ... the primary genre or sub-genre under which it is verifiably classified". The genre is indisputably science-fiction, and the WP:WEIGHT of sources favor "action" over "horror" for the sub-genre. Nobody disputes that the film contains horror elements, but it is generally regarded as a Sci-Fi action film. This is expanded on in The Terminator#Genre.
