Change: The sworn testimony of the woman who said she had sex with Gaetz in 2017 when she was 17, along with corroborating eyewitness testimony to that sexual encounter, was obtained by a hacker on November 18. A lawyer on the case noticed the suspicious download. The hacker did not immediately leak the material.[365]

Please change "has" to "had" in "A woman on the Bahamas trip—a Capitol Hill intern who did not work in Gaetz's office but who was dating him—reportedly agreed in May 2021 to cooperate with investigators, who believe she has information about Gaetz's financial transactions on the trip.[291][292]" JoshP1984 (talk) 00:42, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Peer review

I've listed this article for peer review because I would appreciate guidance on improvements to the article quality prior to a nomination for GA.

Comments after a quick skim:

  • At over 9700 words, this article is quite large. WP:SS (which is linked in 3b of the GA criteria) says "What constitutes "too long" varies by situation, but generally 50 kilobytes of readable prose (8,000 words) is the starting point at which articles may be considered too long." Longer articles take longer to get reviewed at GAN and readers have a more difficult time discerning the most important information from added detail. I recommend that a copyedit be conducted on the article and information be spun out, summarised more strictly, or removed if it is added detail.
  • Continuing from above: the article highlights various bills that Gaetz did or did not vote for: I think most of these can be removed as routine coverage and instead summarised, trimmed and merged to create a larger narrative of his political beliefs and voting habits. For example, "In 2021, Gaetz was one of 14 House Republicans to vote against a measure condemning the Myanmar coup d'état that overwhelmingly passed, for reasons reported to be unclear" and "In April 2024, Gaetz voted against the $60 billion military aid package for Ukraine, although much of the money would have gone to his constituency" could be removed as too much detail: the article does not need to highlight Gaetz's votes on every major issue, but rather create a narrative around the overall philosophy he has in regards to foreign policy, highlighted with examples as appropriate.
  • I added a "duplicate citations" yellow banner to the article, which highlights sources that can potentially be merged.
  • I added a "citation needed" tag to the article.

I hope this helps. Z1720 (talk) 16:23, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
