Please add a new bullet point to the classification list under the "Defining e-commerce" section to account for machine-driven procurement models.
Change to be made:
Under the bullet for "Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) sales...", please add the following new bullet point:
Machine-to-machine (M2M) procurement and agentic commerce, where autonomous software agents execute asynchronous financial transactions, necessitating programmatic verification layers at the payment gateway level.[1]
Justification:
The current business models list is incomplete as it lacks any reference to autonomous or machine-to-machine commerce architectures, which represent a distinct category from traditional B2B/B2C human checkout flows. The included reference provides the necessary technical framework for this industry evolution. Frank.Meltke (talk) 10:44, 22 June 2026 (UTC) Frank.Meltke (talk) 10:44, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Not done - Wikipedia generally does not use self-published consultant blogs or other forms of advertising as sources. - MrOllie (talk) 12:22, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

I would like to formally apologize for my previous attempts to add self-authored research to this article; it was not my intent to violate Wikipedia's conflict of interest or promotional policies. I have reviewed the guidelines and will refrain from adding any citations to my own work or firm-affiliated websites going forward.
To improve the 'Defining e-commerce' section neutrally, I would like to propose adding a bullet point for autonomous/machine-to-machine (M2M) procurement models, supported by the independent third-party sources below.
Proposed Change: Under the 'Defining e-commerce' classification list, please add:
Autonomous/Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Commerce: A system architecture where AI-driven agents perform independent market analysis, negotiation, and transaction execution, functioning as a distinct category from traditional human-assisted procurement.
Supporting Evidence: Recent industry analysis and academic research indicate a transition from assisted human procurement to agentic, autonomous purchasing. This is recognized as a distinct category by industry reports and academic governance studies.
In accordance with the site's COI policy, I am submitting this via the talk page for community review rather than editing the article directly. Would a volunteer editor please review whether this addition is appropriate for the article?

MrOllie - I used AI for rephrasing to meet the Wikipedia style. APA V7 is the scientific standard I am used to in my daily work. M2M procurement and M2M commerce are itself industrial shifts I work with. I apologize for the friction and guarantee that I will stay from AI rephrasing.
