• Israel - Yom Ha'atzma'ut (Israeli Independence Day) for 2007: (the observed date of this national holiday is determined by the Jewish Calendar).

The Yom Ha'atzma'ut says that this is celebrated on April 24, not the 23. I understand the proublem with Jewish holidays beginning at sundown and lasting until the next sun down. But I don't know which will be the corect date to cite. -Kode 14:50, 22 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Someone has added a "cupstacking champion" to the birth list for notable people. I'm wondering what people think about this. It is not a redlinked bday but hardly seems notable. My concern is that this lead to an endless list of bdays or articles on people with such historically monumental relevant characteristics as "Winner of Grade 3 sack race" and "Employee of the Month". They meet the criteria - they have a Wikipedia page. If they are notable enough for that then they are notable enough to be listed in under Births (at least that is the criteria as I understand it). If you feel that they are not notable then nominate the page for a delete. I know it sounds silly but people do take cup stacking seriously. I realize his birthday isn't known with certainty as April 23 (that presumption is based on the fact that he was baptized on April 26, and children in that time were customarily baptized three days after birth), but I still think it deserves to be added, albeit with an explanatory asterisk or caveat. That's the long-standing scholarly consensus as his probable birthday, his birthday is actively celebrated on that day by his admirers worldwide, and April 23 was designated by the United Nations as UN English Language Day because it's believed to be birthday of Shakespeare. If someone comes to this page wanting to know the cultural significance of April 23, it seems unhelpful to omit the primary event that most people associate with that date. His Wikipedia article states (in the lead) that he was born 23/25 April 1823. I assume this means that he was either born on April 23 or April 25. And the exact date is unknown. In the Info Box of the article, his birth date is listed as April 25 (1823), with a footnote that states: There are sources that state his birth date as the 23rd of April. The Events section says, "1979 – Blair Peach, a British activist, was fatally injured...", but I can't see any mention of him being British in the main article. Aaron and Bryce Dessner are twin brothers, both notable as members of The National and with individual careers as composers and producers. Aaron has perhaps a higher visibility due to his work with Taylor Swift. At some point both were listed on this page, but Bryce was later removed, I believe in a large cull for notability.
