Shooting at the 1963 Pan American Games was one of the events contested during the IV Pan American Games in São Paulo, Brazil, held from April 20 to May 5, 1963. The shooting competition took place from April 22 to 29 and featured seven men’s events—25 m center-fire pistol, 25 m rapid-fire pistol, 50 m pistol, 50 m rifle prone, 50 m rifle three positions, high-power rifle three positions, and trap—as well as corresponding team contests. Athletes from across the Americas competed, with the United States dominating the medal table in both individual and team events. Notable individual winners included Gary Anderson (USA) in 50 m rifle three positions and Cecil Wallis (USA) in rapid-fire pistol. The competition reinforced shooting’s status as a core sport in the Pan American Games since its debut in 1951.
