Richard Sammel (born 13 October 1960)[1] is a German actor. He is best known to United States audiences for his role as Thomas Eichhorst in The Strain (2014–2017).[1] He has appeared in more than 100 films and television series since 1991.[2]
Personal life and career
Sammel was born in Heidelberg, Germany,[1] and speaks five languages: his native German, and English, French, Italian, and Spanish, all of which he is fluent in ('fairly fluent' in Spanish).[2][3]
In 2015, he was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor on Television at the 41st Saturn Awards,[4] for his role as Thomas Eichhorst in Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan created Vampire horror FX television series The Strain (2014–2017).[1]
in 2021, he appeared as Bernhardt Mueller in French thriller miniseries The Rope, alongside Suzanne Clément and Jakob Cedergren.[5][6]
He resides in Paris and Berlin with his girlfriend and his son. He also has two daughters.[7]
