Formation and Women's Tag Team Champions (2023–2024)
At Night 2 of WrestleMania 39 on April 2, 2023, Morgan and Rodriguez were paired together to take part in the women's WrestleMania Showcase fatal four-way tag team match, which was won by Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler.[1] The following night on Raw, Morgan and Rodriguez defeated Damage CTRL in a number one contenders match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, with the match being scheduled for the following week against reigning champions Lita and Becky Lynch.[2] On the April 10 episode of Raw, they won their title match and became the new Tag Team Champions.[3] On the April 21 episode of SmackDown, Morgan and Rodriguez retained their titles against Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green.[4]
As part of the 2023 WWE Draft, both Morgan and Rodriguez were drafted to the Rawbrand.[5] On the May 19 episode of SmackDown, Morgan and Rodriguez vacated the titles due to Morgan suffering a shoulder injury, ending their first reign at 39 days.[6] In the meantime, Rodriguez teamed with Shotzi, with the pair failing to capture the vacant titles on the May 29 episode of Raw.[7] Morgan would make her return on the June 23 episode of SmackDown.[8] At Money in the Bank on July 1, Morgan and Rodriguez successfully challenged Rousey and Baszler for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship; Baszler turned on her partner and attacked Rousey, opening the door for Morgan to pin her and win the match, earning Morgan and Rodriguez their second reign as the Women's Tag Team Champions.[9] On the July 17 episode of Raw, Morgan and Rodriguez lost the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship to Deville and Green due to Rhea Ripley attacking them backstage before their match, ending their second reign at 16 days.[10] The following week, Morgan was scheduled to face Ripley, however, the match never began as Ripley viciously attacked Morgan with a steel chair.[11] This was done to write Morgan off television, as she suffered another shoulder injury.[12]
After her return on the August 21 episode of Raw, Rodriguez challenged Ripley several times for the Women's World Championship, but she failed to win the title.[13] On January 1, 2024, Rodriguez revealed she was diagnosed with mast cell activation syndrome, which has resulted in her being absent from WWE shows.[14] After a two-month hiatus, Raquel returned on February 19 episode of Raw and won a Last Chance Battle Royal to earn the sixth and final spot in the women's Elimination Chamber match at Elimination Chamber: Perth.[15] She would, however, fail at the event after being eliminated by Bianca Belair.[16] On March 18, she went on hiatus again after her mast cell activation syndrome flared up at Elimination Chamber: Perth.[17]
While Rodriguez remained out of action, Morgan returned from her injury and resumed her feud with Ripley, with Morgan legitimately (and accidentally) injuring Ripley during a backstage attack on the April 8 episode of Raw.[18][19] In the aftermath, Morgan captured the now-vacant Women's World Championship by defeating Lynch on May 25 at King and Queen of the Ring while also beginning to display more villainous traits. Ultimately, Morgan succeeded in stealing Ripley's on-screen love interest "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio and excommunicating both her and Damian Priest from The Judgment Day at SummerSlam and joining the group herself on the following episode of Raw.[20][21]
At Bad Blood on October 5, Rodriguez made her return after a seven-month hiatus and attacked Ripley to help Morgan retain her title since championships do not change hands via disqualification.[22] At Crown Jewel on November 2, Morgan defeated WWE Women's ChampionNia Jax to win the inaugural WWE Women's Crown Jewel Championship after interference from Mysterio and Rodriguez.[23] On the November 11 episode of Raw, Morgan and Rodriguez failed to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship from Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. At Survivor Series WarGames on November 30, both Morgan and Rodriguez competed in the WarGames match alongside Jax, Tiffany Stratton, and Candice LeRae against Ripley, Belair, Bayley, Iyo Sky and Naomi in a losing effort, with Morgan being pinned by Ripley.[24]
